FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What is RentLend?

RentLend is an online marketplace for items to rent like tools, recreational equipment, and sports equipment. RentLend is different than a traditional rental company. Here you're not renting from a company (like Home Depot or a party rental company), but you're renting from a real person who has posted items that they own for rent.

What happens if someone damages my stuff?

RentLend offers Owner Damage Protection to Verified users.

RentLend will reimburse owners for the cost to repair or replace their item due to loss or damage by a Renter. The amount RentLend will cover is equal to the lesser of:

A) The cost to repair or replace item above the deposit amount.

B) $500

What's Covered:

  • Damage to your item caused by Renter (or others)

  • Unexpected cleaning costs you incur due to Renter (or others)

  • Loss of the item by Renter (or others)

Owner Damage Protection Doesn't Cover:

  • Damage from wear and tear due to ordinary and reasonable use

  • Loss due to acts of nature (like earthquake or hurricane)

  • Borrowed items are not covered under Owner Damage Protection

See more details on the Owner Damage Protection program.

What if I damage something I'm renting on accident?

Accidents happen. We get it. Damage protection is an optional service offered by RentLend that relieves Renter of repair or replacement charges if the Item is damaged during normal use during the Rental Period. Damage Protection costs 15% of the Rental Cost and will appear as a separate line item charge on the Rental Statement. For Items where Damage Protection is available, Renter must accept or decline the Damage Protection service when making a Rental Offer. Damage Protection is not insurance. Damage Protection does not cover loss of or dame to the Item caused by theft, abuse, misuse, neglect, intentional acts, and/or failure to follow the proper use and care instructions provided for the Item. Renter expressly acknowledges and agrees that Renter shall be responsible for all repair or replacement costs not covered by Damage Protection.

What if I rent an item and it never works?

That would be frustrating. We highly recommend Renters test to make sure the Item works before you leave with the Item. But, we understand that sometimes that's not always possible, so we encourage you to notify RentLend through the "Help Me" button on your Rental Order's Tracking Page. We'll help you resolve the problem, get the Item working, or return the Item to the Owner and help you find another item quickly.
